Driftless Area

Rating: 2, temperature: 42 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.

UPDATE:  Snow has stopped, sun is shining through the clouds as of noon.

We've received only a quarter of an inch since 4 p.m.yesterday, the river will be in fine fishable condition.  There is no significant precipitation forecasted for the rest of the day any drizzle (or snow) will be out of the area by this afternoon.
A big swing in barometric pressure will have fishing off a bit until this afternoon as fish adjust.  There will be some light hatches later in the day too, especially midges.
Subsurface will be the key again today.  We have been fishing large scuds, or thick bodied caddis larvae with a tiny midge emerger trailing behind and doing quite well.  Midge larvae, tiny bead head nymphs, and other thick bodied patterns (squirrels, prince nymphs etc) are also effective right now.
