Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 51 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.
No rain in the area last night has the streams continuing to flow clear.Only a slight chance of drizzle today, otherwise cloudy and a bit breezy with winds coming from the Northeast.
Water temperatures have been hitting 50 degrees in the afternoon triggering hatches of olives, midges, black caddis, and even some tan caddis and hendricksons. None of the hatches are gigantic, but they have fish looking up and feeding on the surface in the afternoons.
Subsurface fish are feeding on red copper johns, pink squirrels, tan scuds, and tiny bead head nymphs, as well as caddis pupae and emergers. Leeches and streamers are also getting their fair share of fish, especially when the sun is off the water.
