Driftless Area

Rating: 4, temperature: 67 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.

Water temperatures are excellent for this time of year.  Mid 40's to low 50's area wide.  Black caddis are still hatching sporadically area wide (even a hatch on the Coulee streams yesterday) but no major hatch yet.  Midges and olives are coming off area wide as well.
Scuds are much more active and are a very important food source for trout right now too.  Tan and pink are the hot colors.
Smaller bead head nymphs are still working sub surface as well, and do not forget to fish some caddis emergers or pupae as they have become more and more important as the week has gone on.
