Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 50 ℉, condition: Flurries.
A chilly night last night will have the bugs and fish a bit lethargic as water temperature dipped a bit. It will recover as we have a high of 50 today.Watch for fish to be in the runs below riffles early feeding on scuds and tiny bead head nymphs.
As the water temperature climbs we will first see midges hatching (45 degrees) and on some streams size 16 blue winged olives/salte winged duns (50 degrees).
Since water temperatures have started to climb near 50, leeches and streamers are getting great responses from fish in the afternoon.
