Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 43 ℉, condition: Dust.

The wind will be the only hinderance to some great fishing today.  Cloudy and drizzly and warm.
The weekend was huge with water temperatures peaking above 50 and the flies and fish responded with gusto.
Midges are still hatching, and a handful of slate winged duns (size 16 blue winged olives).  Still too early for black caddis, however when the water temperature stays at 50 for a long period of time we will start to see them.
Fish are eating anything with a bead head on it sub surface, seeming to prefer scuds and tiny bead head nymphs still, but soft hackles were are also very successful right now.
Surface flies are midges and simple mayfly patterns in 16-20 when the midges and mayflies are hatching in the afternoons.
