Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 38 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.

Warmer day today with a high of 38.
Some cloud cover today will have the fish a bit less spooky too.
Fish are feeding on midges under the surface in the mornings then switching to midge dry flies in the afternoons on many streams.
If not midges, then the fish are eating scuds and thicker bodied nymphs as well as leeches in the afternoon when the water has warmed up a bit.
Although warmer, water temperature is key.  If the stream you are on is less that 40 degrees, or the temperature does not creep up during the afternoon move to a different body of water.
