Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 33 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.
Weather is across the board lately, but thankfully it has not gotten too cold to drop water temperatures to 40. They are in the mid to high 40s in the afternoon depending on where you are fishing in Iowa. The closer to 50 the better. We are still seeing a handful of olives hatch, but midges are starting to become a much stronger dry fly lately, and will continue to be so through the colder months ahead.
Scuds and midge larvae are the hot patterns sub surface, as well as leeches twitched very slowly in the deeper slower runs.
