Driftless Area

Despite sunny weather, the fishing in Iowa has been fantastic.Water temperatures have dipped and fish are hugging the bottom of deeper pools and runs until late morning and afternoon when the bugs (olives and midges) start hatching. Fishing heavily weighted nymphs and scuds early, then switching to pheasant tails or midge pupae as the temperatures start to climb upward will catch fish sub-surface. There are fish looking to eat on the surface in the afternoons, so do not forget your olives and midge dry flies!
