Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 78 ℉, condition: Flurries.
Streams overall are clear (Timber Coulee and the West Fork and Bad Axe are still stained) and are fishing very well when the sun is off the water.Mornings are the best as the water temperatures are at their lowest for the day. Evenings can be quite good too as can shaded areas on the stream. Typical summer conditions.
There is very little hatch activity, a few cream midges, a smattering of micro olives here and there. The most success is on ants, beetles, and grasshoppers on the surface, and small bead head nymphs and scuds sub surface.
Keep in mind that this is also prime time for mouse fishing!
