Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 82 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
Fishing is very good on the clear waters, and fair on the cloudy stuff. Two days of dropping and clearing. We have even more clear water (some crystal clear streams yesterday, check out the trip report on the blog).
The fishing on the main branches will still be under cloudy/stained conditions while the tributaries will be stained to clear.
Fish are feeding on small nymphs and midge larvae, as well as on beetles and hoppers in the sun. There were rising fish all day yesterday in the shade on midges and tiny olives.
On the cloudy water fish leeches, large scuds, and streamers.
Some streams will still be blown out from the heavy rains recently, but if you do some driving you will find lots of fishable water and hungry trout!
