Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 80 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
Cooler night time temperatures and low heat in the day have fishing really hopping. The Timber Coulee and West Fork are still running a bit stained as are a few other 'larger' area streams, but everything is fishable and most of the streams are crystal clear.
Terrestrial fishing has been fantastic lately with small hoppers, beetles, and ants catching fish. Fishing them with a tiny nymph or a scud tied on as a dropper will catch quite a few fish.
Today is sunny and a bit windy, which is perfect terrestrial weather again.
Fishing is still best in the mornings and evenings, but with the cooler temperature fishing remains a possibility through the mid day instead of having to leave the stream you can fish some shady spots and toss hoppers in the meadows right now.
