Driftless Area
Rating: 1, temperature: 84 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.
UPDATE 2:00 PM: Anglers catching fish on the upper Timber Coulee on black leeches. Tribs are noticibly clearer. Get out before the storms hit tonight!UPDATE 10:00 AM: A couple of local reports rolling in fishing small headwater streams this morning and catching fish in visibly clearing water.
UPDATE 9:30 AM: At least the heat index has been nixed. Water still muddy but dropping and clearing. If the afternoon and evening rains miss us......
Late night rain storm put another 3/4 inch of rain in the system blowing everything out for this morning. There are a handful of creeks that are still clear, but they are few and far between and too overgrown to fish effectively this time of year.
There is also a high heat index today, so if you are out mid day be sure to stay cool and hydrated.
If we do not get any more rain more streams will clear up to fishable clarity by this evening, but we are supposed to get rain (and heavy rain tonight), so the outlook looks grim.
Fishing was great yesterday, and if you find clear water, it will be great today on beetles with nymph droppers.
Fishing leeches and san juan worms in the milky water has the best chance of getting fish.
But overall if you are in the area today is a good day to scout and a rough day to fish.
