Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 79 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
Bright and sunny day. Thankfully a handful of streams are running with a slight stain this morning after a half an inch of rain fell last night.Look for fish in shaded areas and in the riffles in stained water. They are feeding well on nymphs and scuds (remember scuds get dislodged during rain events) in the riffles and the heads of the pools. Many fish in clear water will be found underneath undercut banks and lunker structures as they get out of the sun today. Fishing will be a bit easier in the evening.
Still no major hatches, but sporadic rises to yellow sallies, light colored mayflies, and craneflies.
