Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 48 ℉, condition: Dust.

After plunging water temperatures yesterday (they dipped below 50 yesterday) fishing will recover today.  There is a 50/50 chance of showers after 10 a.m. but nothing that will muddy up the streams.  Overall the majority of our water is crystal clear (the Bad Axe being one notable exception) while some have begun to cloud up, especially those near tilled farmland.
Despite midges hatching throughout the day fish were locked on to the bottom and feeding on larger thick bodied nymphs.  Expect the same this morning.
As the day progresses fish will start looking up.  Soft hackles are the key in the afternoon.
In the evening we should see another good blue winged olive hatch, unless the rain hits and keeps them from hatching well.
Leeches and streamers are also deadly under these conditions, and even though the water is not muddy, San Juan worms are catching fish.  It even smells like worms this morning!
