Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 59 ℉, condition: Flurries.

A great fishing day today.  Colder and spotty cloud cover all day.  We should see more caddis and cranefly activity today, as well as continue seeing the midge hatches that have been quite thick on some area streams.
Midges in the morning and mid day, caddis in the afternoons, and craneflies all day long.
Fishing the riffles with a highly visible caddis with a midge dropper has been deadly lately.
Sub surface patterns that have been working well are either quite large and thick bodied nymphs, as well as small thin nymphs (blue winged olives) and scuds.
The creek lamprey are spawning, so do not forget to use some larger olive leeches to catch some nice fish.
