Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 62 ℉, condition: Cloudy.

At least the wind has died down!
If you turn over rocks in the stream they are loaded with olive nymphs and caddis pupae.  We need consistent weather and a bit of clouds for major hatches to appear again.  Another day of yet another prevailing wind.
Having said that, the caddis hatch is still strong on some area streams and a size 16 tan caddis is still the top dry fly for the area right now.
Fish are also feeding on midges and midge pupae, scuds, and hare'e ear type nymphs.
