Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 60 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
The rating would be great again if it were not for the wind (gusting to 20mph today) and a sunny sky today. We have seeen water temperatures stable overnight at 50 degrees again which has midges, spring stoneflies, quill gordons, along with a handful of olives and caddis hatching. Recent guided trips have been doing quite well on dry flies!
Sub surface scuds are starting to get very active, and a gray to tan scud with a bit of pink in it is great, along with soft hackles swung down and across, as well as blue winged olive nymphs.
Larger nymphs that imitate stoneflies are doing well too.
The rain we had yesterday was just enough to wet the ground. Water is clear area wide.
