Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 45 ℉, condition: Snow.
Good, but remember it is winter fishing good. Fish are feeding well, but they are still lethargic and it might feel like work, but you will have a shot at fish!Slight drizzle and mist this morning, nothing that will blow the streams out, but will melt some snow a bit quicker than the past few days. This means larger streams will stay colder as snowmelt seeps into them. Push your fishing time back a bit, or hit a smaller more temperature stable stream to find willing fish.
The midge hatch will be a bit more sparse today with the weather change, so sub surface flies will be key. Scuds, thick and busy bodied nymphs, and midge larvae are catching fish. Leeches have also landed some very nice fish on the first day of season.
