A light rain last night has things nice and cool for today and into tomorrow! Fishing has been solid for winter and water temperatures on the smaller waters has been very stable.
We're seeing tricos in the mornings then the terrestrial bite has been great during the day. Ants and beetles are still very important, but the fish have started to turn on to hoppers! Fishing a large hopper or training wheel with a dropper is deadly right now.
Subsurface fishing has been excellent on micro nymphs and midge larvae fished tight to the bottom. Fish are also eating pink squirrels and scuds when clouds are in the sky.
Mousing has really hit its stride with quite a few fish (and a few big ones too!) eating mice on the surface at night.
Creeks are clear to stained with temperatures ranging from 60-65. Remember anything over 65 will be poor fishing and much higher than 65 can be lethal to hook trout in. Please use your thermometers.
